The Men’s Guide to St. Petersburg, Russia (Guest Post)

The following is a guest post from Reborn Masculinity.

Overview

Saint Petersburg is Russia’s second largest city. It has a lot to offer and rich history (it changed name 3 times in past 100 years). People in Russia call it Peter or Petersburg, but myself and other foreigners love to call it St. Pete.

St. Pete is the cultural capital of this part of the world. It reminds me a lot of other European cities. It has beautiful things to see and one of the best museums in the World – the Hermitage museum. (I was there for 4 hours and there were still things I didn’t see.)

Price-wise, St. Pete it’s somewhat cheap but you do pay a bit more than in Poland for nightlife and eating out.

Logistics

Transport

Saint Petersburg metro (http://www.metro.spb.ru/en/) and traffic system is much better than the one in Moscow. For shorter routes, you have public buses and private buses called marshrutkas, which are very popular. Uber is becoming popular and if nothing else, there are still yellow taxis. But my friendly advice is that if the destination you want to go is not far, just walk. There is always something interesting that you will see and experience that way.

From Moscow to St. Petersburg, there are many trains daily. The cost is between $40-80 USD and the journey would take from 4 to 8 hours. There are also night trains, too.

Metro ticket in St. Pete is 0.70$.

Language

The level of English is something just like in Moscow: one of every five people will understand you. Logically, younger generations are more likely to know English.

If you know some words on Russian, don’t forget to say it. Showing interest in the Russian language as a western guy is very appreciated here. People will be shocked and you will have value in their eyes. Especially with girls, as they love when you say something in Russian.

Russian Girls

Two Girls, Concrete Wall, Loft, Russian, Model, ComposeIt’s hard to say how good looking Russian women are without sounding exaggerated. They are as beautiful as everyone says they are. And yes, there are all kinds of Russian women, from manipulative club girls that will take every penny from you without you even noticing, to sweet wife-material girls. The good news is that most of the Russian girls are the sweet type. They are not infected with a disease called feminism.

You may also hear that St. Pete is full of hipsters. However, that is true only when you compare it with Moscow and other smaller cities. Saint Petersburg has been traditionally a city of artists and basically the cultural capital of the country. As such, you sometimes see girls with a slight liberal look. It’s light years away from being as bad as the UK, for example, but it’s still there. On the plus side, there are no fatties.

One night stands are not something that happen often in the life of a typical Russian girl, so don’t come here only to increase your lay count. However, Russian women are very friendly and honest. They are specifically drawn to dominance and being led. That is the number one trait every Russian woman is looking for in a man, so find a way to demonstrate this.

Showing willingness to learn the Russian language is going to increase your value here, they appreciate that here.

Pro tip:  When you are at a club, try to find girls that look bored and that are in the club only because of her friends. Those girls don’t go out that much and they are real sweethearts and long-term relationship material.

Gaming in Russia is different than in Europe. If you want to have sex with multiple girls here, the only way to do that is to build yourself a harem. In other words, date few girls simultaneously. It’s a lot easier and better than chasing only one night stands.  And being in a relationship with a Russian girl is a lot different than being with American. They respect their men and love to cook, clean, etc. I know some outsiders that are so surprised with how Russian women behave in LTR that they choose to stay here and learn the language!

Nightlife

Nightlife in St. Pete is original. Many people say it’s better than in Moscow, but in my personal experience it’s just different. In Moscow, you will find very expensive flashy clubs where everyone is competing who will wear more expensive clothes or drive a good car. Also, Moscow is crazier and full of hot girls that are masters at getting you to spend more on them. In St. Pete things are more relaxed and “normal”, so it depends on what you like when it comes to nightlife.

St. Pete nightlife is original in the sense that everything that is worth is around the center near metro stops…so you don’t have to search for popular clubs as they are usually not far away from each other. There are numerous bars and clubs. Disco bar places are popular here since there are two areas, one for dancing and the other one at the bar to relax.

Some of the best places out here are:

Union Bar – One of the most popular clubs. People tend to go there after midnight for good live music. It’s not a fancy place and it’s not so big, but the atmosphere is just amazing. The closest metro is Mayakovskaya. Overall, it’s a great place with live music and crazy parties. Best day to go here is Friday.

812 bar – This bar is a must if you are into cocktails. There is a huge range of different cocktails and each one has its own design. 812 reminds me of New York clubs by its interior. Bartenders are amazing and kind, just tell them your mood and favorite color. The rest is on them. Amazing atmosphere and great parties. The bad thing is that it’s a bit small and it’s a little bit away from main bar area. (Zhukovskogo 11)

Mishka Bar – Empty on Sundays, but very crowded at Friday’s and Saturday’s. However,  after 2 a.m people tend to go elsewhere. It’s a small space with a dance floor. The backroom is good for gaming girls. It’s probably the most famous bar here with good disco and house music. This is a good place to meet chicks and then relocate with her to Union Bar since it’s not very far. The closest metro station is Mayakovskaya.

Lomonosov Bar – This one is my favorite. If you want to chill you can do it on first floor, it’s a place with karaoke. The second and third floor is your usual bar/club thing with different music. Remember to get there early. It’s on Lomonosov street. Closest metro is Gostinny Dvor.

Online game

Remember, most Russians use Telegram and Signal instead of Whatsapp and Viber, VKontakte instead of Facebook, and Yandex instead of Google.

It’s the same in online game. Girls don’t use Tinder very much. Instead I recommend you to use Mamba (if you know the Russian language) and Russian Cupid. Check out my Russian Cupid review here.

Conclusion

I enjoyed the city very much. There is a lot to see here and the girls are awesome. As weird as it sounds, it takes time to get good with Russian girls, so if you want to get a quick lay maybe you should skip Russia. But if you want to stay in some country for a few months, learn the culture and get laid, St. Pete is definitely a place to go.

Good luck!

Tinder is used heavily, particularly by girls who want to meet foreign guys. Also, WhatsApp is used a lot as well. Been living in SpB for over a year now. Uber, YandexTaxi etc. are dirt cheap, use these to get around at night when the weather isn’t right. Black cabs will try and rip you off if you dont have a good command of russian. Accurate report, but you failed to mention the biggest club district in the city. To be considered, good luck getting past face control if you have a darker complexion.
