Snapshot: Sosua, Dominican Republic
Snapshots are mini town/city guides for smaller places or cities I have only experienced briefly. Here’s a little snapshot of Sosua.

What are one´s first impressions of Sosua?
The “Phuket” of DR sounds promising. There´s music pumping, a decent gaggle of girls about and it´s beside the beach. Sounds good eh? FAIL. Sosua is really disappointing. The beach isn´t bad, the accomodation great, but the party scene during the week is quite sedated. The weekend is much better. That said, having Phuket and Sosua in the same sentence is like putting Jessica Alba next to Susan Boyle. No competition.
What are the women like?
The standard in Sosua is quite poor in comparsion to the rest of the country. The girls here are either wrecked, drug addicted or poverty stricken. There is the odd hottie but nearly all the chicas in the bars are hardcore pros. They´re less freindly and more cunning then what you would find in Asia. You can shore, but it takes a little effort and you´ll just feel dirty afterwards. Hit on the bar girls.

Where should I go at night-time?
Cabarete, the next town! But seriously, it´s easy to find a place if you just walk down the main strip. Places like Latinos or Club Classico are a little more lively. If you want to hit on strippers go to Passions.
Any other recommendations?
Go on the weekend. Hit the beach. Coco hotel is a great budget option. You can bring girls back, it has a pool and if you´re looking for some smoke you`ll get pointed in the right direction. It´s around 2000 pesos for per oz.
The Bottom Line
If you’re looking for decent chicks, skip it.

Do you speak Spanish or are you approaching these girls in English? What has been your impression on the Dominican as a whole thus far?

I totally agree, NN. I spent several days in Sosua a while back, and I found it wasn’t my kind of place at all. The town has some decent restaurants and bars, but it’s basically a whore town crawling with pros, especially at night. I spent most of my time in Cabarete, just to get away from the place. BTW Cabarete has a great beach but it’s not exactly an easy place to pick up girls either.
Sosua is in the moment not good place for visit. Police (Politur) make in the moment a hunt on the girls. With each visitor less they have to change a politic about girls.
This website is a bunch of crap. There are all types of girls working in Sosua. Pros, Semi Pros and lots of girls from Santiago. Not everyone of them is a drug addict out to steal your wallet. Thats just a bunch of BS. and feeliing dirty after sex with a girl here? Come on. Sosua has a large and loyal following of guys who come here every time they get a few days off. Some have been here 100 times plus. 95% of the guys who come to Sosua have a great time. None of you have ever traveled to Santiago and picked up a rich Dominican girl. Cabarete is also loaded with working girls. I have lived here 4 plus years and know the area better than all of you combined

I find this website to be definitely off the point. There is a good variety of chicas in Sosua. I travel all over the world as part of my job. I agree, Sosua is not for everyone. There is a lot of hustlers (both male and female). I suggest if you want to get a real perspective of Sosua then you need to visit insearchofchicas.org. This website only gives one quick opinion. The one I listed has hundreds of visitor reports. Happy hunting:)
Um I agree w/ Brian. I’ve been to Sosua & Boca over the last 6 yrs. Boca is small & dirtier. Playa is beautiful in Boca & Sosua. Talent level is higher in Sosua. I grew up in NYC area & have plenty of street smarts, if ur the same, then U will not have a problem in Sosua.
Remember not all like the dark meat, so if ur that type go to Holland.
