Overview

Copenhagen is paradise for weed-smokers, but otherwise it’s pretty average—to put it bluntly.

After travelling so many places it’s hard to impress me these days, but Copenhagen’s semi-independent enclave of Freetown Christiania blew my mind. At nighttime in winter, it felt like a scene from Fallout, with masked men huddling over barrels of fire by graffiti-laden shacks.

Apart from the appeal of open hash selling, you can even smoke
in the bars (unlike over-rated Amsterdam), and there’s even a cheap local brew named after the area.

Outside Christiania’s walls there’s a lot more options for girls and nightlife of which I had a limited experience, but this guide is packed with advice from other men.

The Girls

Appearance: Danish girls get a bad rep from other male travelers. To quote Roosh V’s book Don’t Bang Denmark:

“Danish girls have thick, stout builds, with Pepsi-can bodies and faces that have come into contact with every branch of the ugly tree.”

A little harsh, but I would agree they don’t match up to their Nordic neighbors in Oslo and Stockholm. With an average height of 5’5″ (168 cm), they are the tallest women in the world after the Dutch, and with an average weight of 158 lb (70kg) they tend to come quite husky, too.

All that said this is still Northern Europe we are talking about, and when they’re good looking they’re top tier.

It’s also worth mentioning that the city has large foreign populations from the Middle East and Asia, some of which are very good looking. (My Danish flag was a model from Chinese-Filipina descent, in fact.)

Demographics: The city has a population of roughly 440,000, 77% of which are of Danish origin. The majority of the rest are from the Middle East, Pakistan, and neighboring countries.

Attitudes: Like other Scandinavian countries, Danish society is highly feminized and sexually liberal (hence the 45% divorce rate and 15 being age of consent). Women are not shamed for slutty behavior. This makes one night stands easy, but the hard part is getting passed their guard. Danish women are cold toward strangers and they tend to be very opinionated, making wooing them a chore.

Gaming Strategy: Smile and nod game. If you want to get laid in Denmark and get a much better understanding of the women, I highly recommend you read the hilarious Don’t Bang Denmark.

The Dirt

Accommodation: Privates room are pretty expensive in the city. The best deal I found was at Urban House. It’s  central and you can easily bring back guests.

Gym: Most gyms charge around 100kr ($15) for a day pass. Assuming you’re staying near the train station where most of the accommodation is, your best bet is fitnessdk.dk.

Getting High: It couldn’t be easier. Although it’s not technically legal, if you go to Christiania there’s more or less open selling of hashish at various stalls (you won’t miss them). You won’t get ripped off. 50kr worth will do most people for a weekend. I got 100kr worth with another serious stoner and we had to work really hard to get rid of it in two days.

The Nightlife

In Christiania there are a couple of bars of interest on Pusher Street. If you’re looking for a really local vibe and the cheapest beer, I love Woodstock. Expect old hippies, hardy Greenlanders, dog fights, and the most red-eyed clientele of any bar on the planet.

If you’re looking for women and a younger hipster crowd, go a few doors west to Jazzklubben (not 100% on that name). The only catch is they often charge a 100kr entrance to keep out the riff-raff.

In Copenhagen city center near the central station Bakken Nightclub is the local meat market. Aside from that, most of the club action happens further north around Copenhagen University.
