Overview

Tunis was the highlight of our trip to Tunisia.  It’s super spread out, but it’s fun and taxis are cheap. The real action is not in the city itself, but in the seaside suburbs 30 minutes drive away from the city center. The only good reason to visit Tunis is for the old Medina.

The suburbs have all the main sites, the best amenities, and some of the best nightlife in the Arab world. In my opinion it rivals Beirut. It loses a point because of the lack of a concentrated strip, but the booze is cheaper and the women are slightly better looking and equally liberal.

The Girls

Image result for beautiful tunisian girlAppearance: Tunisian girls impressed me and my friends. They are easily the best looking I’ve seen in North Africa. Coming from southern Europe I noticed a significant upgrade in quality.

In the leafy suburbs their appearance is similar to Europeans, with very light complexions and softer facials features than you’d expect from an Arab country. Nearly all have dark hair, but you’ll also see lighter shades and some dyed blondes. On a rare occasion you’ll even see some with incredible green or blue eyes.

You also see a few girls from the south with more Berber blood who are darker.

In general, Tunisian women have nice bodies that are petite and slim with good curves. Average height is 5″3 (160cm). For a better idea of what they look like check out here.

Although still conservative by European standards, you can still find plenty of women who drink and go out to party. That said, sex is a different story. Attitudes in the country are similar to that of Lebanon, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.

It is illegal for Tunisian Muslim women to marry foreign non-Muslim men. The law gets a little murky around premarital sex, but nonetheless getting caught a local girl can land her in trouble. The police will do everything in their power to cock-block you.

In more upscale establishments you may encounter some serious bitch shields, but most Tunisian girls are surprisingly flirtatious and friendly with Western men. Many even approached us! (But I should add we were dressed like pirates.)

Gaming Strategy: Online dating and the likes of Tinder can yield a lot of dates, but most of the time these girls are virgins who don’t drink.

Day game is also lucrative—I even had girls approach me up on the street—but again you’re often dealing with sober virgins.

Here you’ll find the most liberal middle-upper class girls with decent English. Many clubs don’t allow single Tunisian entry, so the ratios are good at these places. Most guys roll in mixed sets as beta-orbiters, so any Westerner with a bit of game can potentially thrive.

Girls are willing to make out in public, but some are a little shy in front of their friends, so try to isolate. On the other hand some Tunisian women are buck wild. They’ll make out with several guys, let you make out with their friends, and then even join in for a three-way kiss. (This happened on two occasions).

But while getting a make-out is easy, sealing the deal is tricky. Most girls live with their parents, security keeps a watchful eye for any shady business in the club, and many hotels wouldn’t let you bring a girl back. Some upscale hotels don’t mind, but you’ll have to register her. You’re much better off just getting an apartment.

The level of English was surprisingly high in Tunis, and most girls you meet at night can handle a conversation. That said, French is king. Although I used Arabic for most of the trip, many of upper classes don’t even speak it.

I recommend the following for learning French or Modern Standard Arabic.

The Dirt

Accommodation: The best place to stay is La Marsa. Here you have the best amenities, you’re within walking distance of all the best tourists attractions like Sidi Bou Said, and a quick taxi ride away from the clubs in the hotel district of Gammarth.

I recommend staying around here in central La Marsa or near the coast around La Corniche station.

Gym: Tunis offers a pretty good selection of gyms. In La Marsa the best one is California Gym.

Getting High: It’s a little harder to find hash in Tunis than in Morocco or Egypt. Drug laws are harsh and with tourism dead they’re no dealers on the streets. The only way we found hash was being approached by one of the waiters at our hotel, but that was in Sousse. We overpaid – 10 dinar for only two joints worth. For more info check out Marijuana Travels.

Other recommendations:

The village of Sidi Bou Said it worth a visit, but the ruins at Carthage at not worth it.

For restaurants, I strongly recommend The Kitchen for their famous cheese plate. It was so good I nearly cried. Also Flight Burger makes the best burger I’ve had in the Arab World.

The Nightlife

Carpe Diem

Nightlife in Tunis is spread out and most of it sucks, but when it’s good, it’s exceptional. (And this was in winter when no beach spots were open.)

A good place to warm up is La Plaza in La Marsa. It’s more of a restaurant vibe, but the ambiance is nice and occasionally you can find some single girls at the main bar who are pretty receptive. The nightclub downstairs is pretty lame…loud music, bottle service, and terrible sex ratios, but they’re some single women about.

In my opinion Wax Bar in Gammarth and the bars beside are the best game in town. Wax just might be favorite bar in North Africa. Think of a pool party with DJs spinning vinyls and a laid-back crowd (a lot of medical students come here). They also have cheap draft beer, it’s free in, and the ratios are solid. It’s quiet midweek, but weekends it’s rockin’.  This a great place to pick up. The only downsides are the long bathroom lines and the meathead security staff.

All that said, I recently had a friend who visited and hated Wax, telling me it was dead. He much prefer Maize next door and the famous spot Le Carpe Diem. I couldn’t check the latter place out because they were not Mexican pirate friendly. Apparently it;s the only game in town on Thursdays.

I lived 6 months in Sousse in 2010.
I can’t agree at all that it’s easy to kiss a Tunisian girl.
With tourists it was easy, but I didn’t knew any foreign guy who managed to kiss a local girl.

I almost never saw people kissing on party, and foreigners wil get cock-blocked by local men.

So I am REALLY surprised to read that in 2 occasiones there was kissing with local girls.

Maybe it’s different in Tunis, or things have changed in 7 years?

In Sousse there was kissing too.

I never said it was easy (look at the chance of hooking up score), but it can be done.

dam with your luck and game its a 2? And its one of the most liberal.
Looks like not worth it for 3s(I take 1 point off cuz u fetish dark features)

think the wealthy ones with lots of foreign influences are the ones to go.
Think you are confusing enthusiasm and warmth for interest in daygame. arabs are a warm an emotional people…but also crazy.

    • Mark Zolo February 8, 2017 at 9:46 am #

Add that point back on… I also have an Arab festish! haha
It’s a 2, but business was still taken care of. I was just trying to be objective for regular guys.

you should drop the Mexican pirate costume and wear crusaders costume next time you go to an arab country.see if you can pick up then and avoid any other potential problems. and film for proof.

    • Mark Zolo February 16, 2017 at 9:53 am #
