Overview

Liberia has a GDP per capita lower than Somalia, but it is one of the most expensive cities in West Africa to visit. It’s also considered  quite dangerous. Electricity is scarce. Running water is non-existent. Recently a war zone, this place is seriously off the beaten track. Many of the building are bullet ridden shells. As such, tourists in Monrovia are unheard of.  But hey – it’s good fun! Unlike most African cities, it is well laid out and thus not so hectic. Liberians can prove quite hospitable and the women may be the most accommodating on the planet!

The Girls

If you haven’t already, I’d strongly recommend  you read my article Sex in Africa 101 before continuing.

and they come in pairs..

Liberian girls are not like any other Africans. The have extra attitude, spunk and they love to fuck (they also have cute semi-American accents and are known for their big booties). I’d give them a higher rating but unfortunately, the best looking Liberian girls are usually found outside the country in Sierra Leone, Ghana, and other countries where they can earn better money as prostitutes: a sad fact of war.

Monrovia might just be the easiest place in the world to get laid. Threesomes are common. If you ask a girl to bring her friend along, she will. Sounds like a dream, right? However, while local girls are likely to pounce on you in nightclubs, some carry knifes. Do not bring girls back to your place. This is the 5th poorest country in the world and you’d be surprised what people are willing to do to get their hands on a little cash. Get a rent by the hour room on front street if you must, or if they have a place, go back to theirs. Be wary of the “pay $10 for my transport” scam. Precautions aside, you can have a blast here. Just read my experience below. If you want to get a local girl, it’s simple: go on the weekend, read my last nightlife recommendation below, and then just show up. That’s it… but state your nor a customer.

If you’re looking for something a little less dangerous, there are two other types you can for.

The first are the ‘Congos’: the rich decedents from freed American Slaves. (Indecently, they enslaved the locals when they first arrived). They Congos hang out in the classier little bars in central Monrovia, near the U.S embassy. Mainly in the diplomatic area of Sinkor.

And final group are is expats and the staff at the casino at Ocean view hotel (near Mamba point). Here you can find some semi-decent Eastern Europeans (mostly Romanian) and the odd Asian.

Nightlife Recommendations

Outside the weekends and Wednesdays (ladies night), don’t expect much. Sunday, the Casino is the only place open, but other nights you can find some sort of fun.

Exodus

This is the place where all the expats and NGOs will warn you about. “It’s dangerous,” we were told. So naturally, we had to check it out. It’s a decent sized bar. Strictly locals. Not for the light-hearted. It’s in the city center, it’s cheap, and its consistently busy – unlike most places.

Deja Vu

It’s a little far away, but this Lebanese-owned nightclub in the best thing about Monrovia. People of all shades and stripes flock to this place on the weekend. It can get crazy. There are tons of single ladies willing to jump your bones. Get there before mid-night if you want to avoid paying $15 in. It doesn’t get busy until 2. This place rox!

Embassy is another nearby venue. It’s a little more rave-ish and a little less hip-hip (like Deja Vu) f that’s more your scene.

My Monrovia Experience

Apart from the ladies, Monrovia’s a pretty boring city. We originally stayed in a seedy brothel but couldn’t hack it and moved into a decent hotel. We were also travelling with a pet chicken, named Captain ‘Francais’ Cluck. It was all kind of nuts.

Our first night sieging Monrovia we went to Deja Vu. I never refused so much sex in my life. Women were fighting over us. I even refused two threesomes (no shit). The reason? They didn’t have their own place. In the end, I choose to go home with a with a skinny chick with white/green/red/blue hair. She  had a house. The next day, a different girl called to my hotel. She was dressed as if she was starring in a porno, with a cracking body and massive DDs popping out of her dress. She told me she saw me at the club and found out where I live. She told me she wanted to fuck me the night before but there was too much girls trying to talk to me. Within 10 minutes of meeting her we were in a private room. I couldn’t get her lips off my dick. After screwing her brains out she even offered to give me a massage. Class!

fuck of Jess. A lot of mans go to prostitutes or want only short adventures with girls because a large majority of womens in this world only talk about love but in fact they treat us like shit. You know how many serious mans I met with 2 jobs for family support are leaved? Tons of them…and they don’t deserve a nice treatment you will say….
Not mention about that mans after some “accidents” in relationships turn the way to be gay 🙁
List of “serious” womens are unfinished to ask and expect and dont want to offer almost nothing.
Good job mans and thank you NN..keep the good work here :)). Memories are everything we have.

African women are really beautiful, and they are so feminine. I love to see African nature too. African people are really progressive.

This was one of the most disgusting articles I’ve ever read about women. I am extremely upset that Liberian women are being depicted in this way! Most of those women have families and no jobs, it’s not the right way to get money but it doesn’t mean they like it. There’s a lot more to Liberian women than being easy.
Aside from that, in all countries, I don’t care how rich there will be prostitutes and of course they will be all over you. However, it seems like the majority of you men travel and look for the easiest targets! You know them when you see them. Next time try to approach one of the “congos” and let’s see the kind of vibe you’ll get!
Everyone knows Deja Vu or now Ce La Vie is a hub for white men and prostitution. On rare occasions they have events and that’s when regular girls are found there.
Here’s a real list of places you would come across not many but some nice more respectable girls: (who do not want your money or sex from you)
      1. Royal Hotel Rooftop
      2. Capital Room
      3. Lila Brown
      4. Ragazzi (Mamba Point Hotel’s Restaurant)
      5. Palm Spring

Liberian girls are really hot indeed but war definitely damaged this place for long. When I was there, at least 2 guys had the same story : picked up an easy girl in a bar, brought her to their place, started to get naked and then, the girl punched a glass or a window to harm herself and almost immediately, cops were at the door. Every time the guys had to bribe they way out at crazy prices, especially after the girl added she was under 18. Most likely untrue but guess what, the cops believed her…

    • Tim June 13, 2019 at 6:42 pm #

This is true in Liberia, very bad experience, great pity indeed, it can spoil your entire trip to Liberia…but does anyone know how to avoid that experience and still be able to pick up a nice girl for the night??

Thanks Akim. I went to Dejavu on saturday and honestly the “free before midnight” is not true. I got there like around 10:30 and they charged me $15 bucks entrance fee and inside wasn’t really too shabby, not too many girls and basically I was disappointed.

Yeah I would definitely like to check out the expats site….let me know

Am down for some events, keep me updated bro I appreciate it

  10. Paul March 10, 2013 at 9:45 am #

I think the article got a point, well observed, but what strikes me most is, why are we not discussing assholes (men) that are helping to exploiting these women more, are we exempted from societal bullshit too? are we actually reading this to only know about Liberian women and their openness to sex or bought sex and places to get free sex and hangout or about how hopeless we (men) can be when we have nothing to blog? I am here for questioning, this article (like I said) is good, the author did a great observation and I am a Liberian and I can’t deny that, but is this not “Exploitation and Abuse of Women” even if they are the ones abusing themselves? what about the beautiful places Liberia has to show? wait, I am going to do a blog on that soon, no need, someone has done it already, there are a lot of things that are beautiful about Liberia and we close our eyes to that just to see where to get “free fuck” from women we can easily exploit and abuse, have you tried all of them?

  11. james March 15, 2013 at 2:41 pm #

    Paul is gay lol
Listen pal everybody is talking about woman and all that cause obviously they wanna find out where the best spot it @ to get laid. I was in monrovia couple years ago and trust me I was bored as hell and I don’t know what your referring to when you say “all the beautiful places” am sorry bro I just didn’t find a place where I go and just relax and have a good time….well that’s except going to the beach and that’s all

  12. Paul August 30, 2013 at 10:21 pm #

Paul… kindly shut up. They did not pay drug-addled hookers for sex. They hooked up with grown women who were horny. Now stop being a stupid whiny cunt.

  13. jIMMY kHAN September 25, 2013 at 10:57 am #

Paul dont try to be saint.I think all men who trying to hook with women anywhere are exercising their legitimate right to have good sex and good time with women. No one is raping to these women. If some women like to have fun wiht guys it is romance and if men want the same then it is expoitation.
By the way what do you mean (that just to see where to get “free fuck” from women !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do u think that men should have sex only for money and all women should be like prostitutes!!!!!!!!!!

  14. nesci0 July 6, 2014 at 11:10 pm #

Hey, how do you check if they aren’t hookers .. you simply ask them or tell them you don’t pay?

  15. Dana January 27, 2015 at 1:35 pm #

It’s easy to write an article and to assume things that they are not true about people . But someone who want to inform about places of the world will not give false informations and will not put a general label over some emplyes without facts and will not offend nobody as you done ! Being one of the semi-decent Eastern European as u describe us here I’ll take the chance and invite you next time when you will visit Liberia to have face to face conversation and meat the people you think you know them so good and write about them . Next time when u write an article make sure you don’t offend people you know nothing about them !!!

  16. gavinmac December 10, 2015 at 1:48 pm #

Deja Vu has now been renamed Gossip. I went last night at 2 a.m., was charged $10 to enter. There was no one inside. Like one other dude.

I went to the Gossip “bar & grill” next door, had a beer, went back into the club, now there were five people there.

Maybe I showed up too late, maybe it’s because it was Wednesday, maybe it’s because of the Ebola thing.

  18. Sam the Man February 18, 2019 at 12:11 am #

So decided to take a trip to Monrovia to see how it was. Intended to be there for 6 nights was actually only there for 4 nights. This city has its ups and downs as far as I was concern. So my ratings for the girls are 2/5. I only saw two single girls who I thought were actually cute enough to be considered beautiful. Had a bad luck event with one, but scored with the other one, I’ll get to those story soon. I would also give the COH 4/5. I especially say this because some of the girls who may go with you at the end of the night, you might not even want them to come. Sad but true. Nightlife 3.5/5. Smoke tolerance 4/5. I mean I saw no cops walking anywhere and people would smoke right next to the clubs.

So even before making it to Monrovia misfortune struck. I chartered a taxi from Freetown, Sierra Leone to drive me and a friend to the boarder of Liberia. It was Wednesday and we left at 12pm, I figured I would make it in time for ladies night in Monrovia. My GPS said that the entire trip from Freetown to Monrovia would take 8 hours (5 hours to boarder, 3 hours from there to Monrovia). However the roads are so bad at the end of Sierra Leone before you get to the boarder, it took us 8 hours just to make it to the boarder. (On the way back through Sierra Leone I bought two seat in a van just for myself, I like space and the vehicle could handle the road better). Little did I know that the boarder closes at 6:30pm, and it was close to 8:30pm before we made it. I was stuck on the Sierra Leone side and went to the nearest village called Jendema Town and found a guesthouse called Starford Bridge Bar and Guest House. While I didn’t like not crossing the boarder I actually had a fun night. The place was owned by a family, about 5 brothers all pretty young and 2 sisters. The room was also only $6 USD and big enough for two. Also was connected to a bar. One of the brothers were clearly the village dealer because he had a lot of people coming to get smoke from him. We stayed up all night with him and one of the other brother just drinking, some smoke, and telling stories. Next morning we went to the boarder and later got ride to Monrovia. Super small village but this place made it a chill night (just wish there were woman around). Also the roads on the Liberian side were great took us exactly three hours to get to Monrovia once we found a ride.

Now at Monrovia two things that I should probably state first, I got there Thursday January 10 2019, so its been a few years since Nomad original post and some things have changed for the better. The city is fairly nice looking now and bullet hole buildings are gone, or at least I didn’t see any. Luckily there was a steady stream of electricity and running water ever where I stayed. I was pleasantly surprised because after reading the original post I was expecting more of a rough trip. Second in the city of Monrovia there is the University of Liberia. This is important because the week I came the students (mostly all between the ages of 17-21) were talking their final exams. Exams had started that Monday and were done that Friday so this may have had impact on how the week went, and it definitely mattered on the Friday I was there. I say that considering college students apparently in every country like to party right when school is out before they graduate or go back home.

So Thursday night first went to the place previous called Deja Vu but is now called Ce La Vie. Wanted to check it out but it was pretty dead, less than 10 people. However stopped over to the small little part on the other side for more drinking and smoking and started talking with one of the guys who works there and one of his friend and they said it was dead for that night but he told us where the party was for the night. The friend of the person who worked there even decided to go with us, I later nicknamed him Smokey, (you can probably guess why). Ended up going to a place called Anglers Bar and Grill. It costed $20 to get in but the place was packed. Now mind you, wouldn’t be surprised if many were college students but sure was a good time. Now as to one of the just two woman I saw to be beautiful. I saw her in this place, she was 19 light brown skin, short and with big breast. She absolutely beautiful, I can not stress that enough. But misfortune struck again. So when I got to the country I bought a new sim and got a cheap $20 phone so I wouldn’t have to switch out the sim in my other phone. However while talking to the girl I give her the new phone to put her number in she puts the number in but I didn’t realize you had to press like three command buttons to save it. I only realize it is not in my phone when I get back to the hotel, I was absolutely devasted. Sad but true. Also while the place was packed I didn’t even see a lot of girls worth talking to, but lesson from this is when you get a new phone make sure you practice saving numbers in it before you hit on the hottest girl you going to see in four days. As far as that place was concerned I literally drove to it Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights to check it out again and really in hopes of seeing that girl, but the place was never open at night besides that Thursday party.
But now to Friday, after a little day gaming and checking out the city and food places I decide to go to Ce La Vie again. On this Friday night they are throwing a graduation party for the college students who are graduating. Now I think I get there are 10pm but I am out in front for like 30 mins with my friend and Smokey just watching the talent. There were some decent ones, but not really great. So we go in and about 30 mins later I am heading back to my hotel. She was a dark skin thick girl, and was actually very funny. She was graduating, kept telling me how she dreamed of traveling to America one day. I sealed the deal pretty easily with that one just by giving her my Facebook name and telling I could help make that happen. (Captured Liberian Flag) After, I grab a taxi and decide to take her home, mainly because its still early and I figure I could see a new part of the city. After dropping her off its only 1:30 am. So I decide to go back to Ce La Vie. So when I get back the party is still going. I stay until like 4am where I decide to take two college students back to my hotel. Of the two one is brown and fat ass and decent face, the other is just dark skinned, tall for a girl and thin. However I figure two might be more fun than one, and boy was I right. I started with the brown skin one and she was a straight animal, kind of wanted to keep me all to herself. Next round, start with dark skin, but still finish in brown skin, it was no competition who I liked better. It was about 8am when I let them go on their ways, got in the shower and went to sleep with a smile on my face. Great day.

Saturday Night went to two places in Central part of town one called Capital Room, nice place had dinner on the rooftop while looking at the ocean. Classy place but left before it really got started. Then went to a small bar/lounge called The Red Lion. Nice small place good music and cheap drinks but two problems, one it was more clique-ish as ever area was like a table of four so it was more everyone sticking to their own, and second the fan or AC was not working in that place that night, it was hot as hell so I was in there less than an hour. Went to Exodus next, I feel that place is still just like Nomad described it. You walk in and out of these two building that generally connected as one place and the drinks are the cheapest in the city. While there for less than 2 hours I saw two fights break out. One between two guys and one between a guy and a girl where the guy started dragging the girl by the hair. It was certainly the most hard core place in city and I was just fine with it. Got a couple of numbers and could have called it a night with one of the girls there but wanted to check out Ce La Vie one more time. Glad I did because this night smaller older crowd, but I saw the other girl I would call beautiful. This girl was caramel brown, beautiful face and a nice ass and breasts. She was dating material. After staying with her for like an hour or two of drinks and dancing we decided to head to my hotel. Now mind you I read about the $10 taxi scam before I went there and I clearly remembered it, especially when she asked for it I laughed a little, but this girl was so pretty and good in bed that afterwards I didn’t even care. She was a bit of a hustler, which made me not trust her, but she was the prettiest flag I captured in Liberia. After she left went back to Ce La Vie and closed it down with my friend and Smokey.

Sunday Night stayed at Mamba point beach, one because walking distance to beach and second thought I would check out how that area is at night. Nomad description was pretty accurate. On Sunday only the beach was really open, stayed there for quite a while, then after shower hit the casino but only saw foreign men in there and plus I am not the biggest fan of gambling. But of one good luck, when I checked into the hotel I happened to be placed in a room right next down to a cute American from California who was part Liberian. Seeing how nothing else had worked I actually was heading back out but decided to make a move on her. We actually spent like two hours talking in both her and my room, but nothing really happened. So I just called the brown skin college girl from Friday and had my way with here again. So the truth is that area is pretty much dead on Sunday except for visitors. Since I came for Liberian natives and not into casino really not my area, but lesson learned. Also on Sunday Smokey told me I should come with him to check out area near Palm Spring Resort, only place on my list I didn’t get to go, but would probably recommend staying there Sunday if you are more like me.

Now Smokey had all the smoke anyone could use and he would go and get more if you needed it. Liberia was cool but I also thought the city was the most expensive African city I had ever gone to. I like that their street are properly arranged and by the time I left I could actually know where I was going. Just to add I think Bella Casa is the best hotel as far as the room itself, the price, and location to everything that you are going to want to get into. Plus they didn’t even charge for the Wednesday I didn’t make it or my friend checking out one day early. If I had the number of that first girl or trusted the second one I may have stayed another day but I had fun while it lasted.

Lots of fun indeed. Quick question when you were traveling across West Africa were you driving through each country or were you flying. Also if driving, were you just finding a ride in every country or did you prearrange transport. I ask as I plot my next trip, I’m wondering how the trip from say Ghana to Lagos was.
